I love the way the texture map fell in
exactly the
right place to make the little sand bars
in
the foreground look like they are actually wet. The sky
reflectionin
the water is much too turquoise here - there is so much red dust in the
much thinner Martiain atmosphere that
the sky
color ranges from deep blue at the zenith,
to lavender, to warm pink at the horizon...
I couldn't spend
any more time
tweaking these pix, cuz I had to come home to feed
Kitties...! This landscape was created entirely by accident -
using the
Edit Object module in Bryce... I
was painting
my own custom landscape, and I tried the
terrace
filter, but it terraced the entire landscape, not just the ground
features... so I decided to play around with it and see how it came
out.

The highlands of Mars, with some dunes in
the foreground...
which were created using a fractal image (a Julia spiral). In
this image,
the sky color and lighting are more accurate.
If you'd like to see another planet that might have life... go to Europa!! |
